Kate Ferguson joined the Duluth Seaway Port Authority leadership team on July 13, 2015. She is the first point of contact for companies pursuing domestic and international trade opportunities. Responsible for developing, attracting and retaining business for the Port Authority and its properties, she also coordinates business expansion prospects with regional industrial development organizations. She has a decade of credentials in the arena of business development, account management and supply chain logistics. Her expertise crosses a wide range of industries, encompassing materials moved by water, road and rail across the Upper Midwest. Ferguson was supply chain informatics senior specialist for Essentia Health and spent nine years previously in transportation logistics – first with Great Lakes Fleet and later with Canadian National Railway – analyzing and improving efficiencies in cargo movement between ports and facilities along the Great Lakes-Seaway. She holds bachelor’s degrees in transportation and logistics management and computer information systems from the University of Wisconsin-Superior and an MBA from the University of Minnesota Duluth. Certified by the American Society of Transportation and Logistics, Ferguson is a guest lecturer at UW-Superior, currently serves as past president of the local Prop Club and is one of the Ambassadors for the Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce.
