St. Louis River Quest May 12-15, 2014

Boatloads of sixth-grade students carrying River Quest "passports" to document their adventures, board the Vista Star excursion vessel each May for exciting journeys through the Port of Duluth-Superior, a vital part of the St. Louis River watershed.

This year marks the 22nd anniversary of River Quest, launched in 1992 by the Duluth Seaway Port Authority and other waterfront business leaders. The program provides hands-on learning activities that raise awareness of the St. Louis River ecosystem and interrelated commercial, industrial and recreational activities.

During the course of each morning or afternoon session, groups of students visit 12 different learning stations aboard the Vista Star and in Pioneer Hall at the DECC - stations  staffed by volunteers from local businesses, government agencies and other organizations who cover topics ranging from pollution prevention and stopping aquatic invaders to boating safety and commercial shipping.
